EWE antenna

The EWE is a receiving antenna made of two vertical sections joined by a horizontal wire and terminated toward ground.

Construction and tuning

Step 1

Install two separated supports.

Step 2

Run a horizontal wire between their tops.

Step 3

Connect one end through a resistor to ground.

Step 4

Install a transformer at the other end.

Step 5

Provide two comparable grounds.

Step 6

Orient the antenna for the desired direction.

Advantages

History and origin

The EWE was popularized as a compact alternative to the Beverage for 160 and 80 metre reception.

Vertical wires and grounds require surge and lightning protection.
